Mechanical component controls

REMOVAL

I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION

  • Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle: Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
IMPORTANT To prevent the vehicle from falling, lash it to the vehicle lift using a strap.
  • Remove:
    • the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery)
    • the battery tray (see Battery tray: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery).

Mechanical component controls

  • Remove:
    • the bolts (1) from the wiring channel,
    • the wiring channel (2) .
  • Disconnect the manual gearbox control cable from the gear control unit (see 37A, Mechanical component controls, Gear control unit: Removal - Refitting, page 37A-76) .

Mechanical component controls

  • Remove:
    • the bolt (3) from the heater matrix water outlet hose.
    • the heater matrix water outlet pipe (4) .

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART CONCERNED

Mechanical component controls

  • Unclip:
    • the cable (5)
    • gear lever A while by pressing the brackets (7) ,
    • the cable (6) from the selector lever by pressing the brackets (7) ,
    • the gear lever cable (5) from the upper bracket of control cable A (8) by pulling on the locking brackets (10) ,
    • the gear lever cable (6) from the upper bracket of control cable B (9) by pulling on the locking brackets (10) .

4X2 TRANSMISSION

Mechanical component controls

  • Unclip:
    • the manual gearbox control cable from the lower bracket (11) of the control cable,
    • the control cable stop (12) from the manual gearbox.

4X4 TRANSMISSION

Mechanical component controls

  • Unclip:
    • the manual gearbox control cable from the lower bracket (13) of the control cable,
    • the control cable stop (14) from the manual gearbox.

 

  • Remove the manual gearbox control cable.

REFITTING

I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART CONCERNED

  • Refit the manual gearbox control cable.
  • Clip:
    • the manual gearbox control cable on the lower bracket of the control cable,
    • the control cable stop of the manual gearbox,
    • the gear lever cable on the upper bracket of control cable A,
    • the gear lever cable on the upper bracket of control cable B,
    • the gear lever cable on gear lever A,
    • the selector lever cable on the selector lever.

II - FINAL OPERATION.

  • Connect the manual gearbox control cable to the gear control unit (see 37A, Mechanical component controls, Gear control unit: Removal - Refitting, page 37A-76) (Mechanical component controls).
  • Adjust the selector lever cable (see Gear control unit: Adjustment) (Mechanical component controls).
  • Refit:
    • the heater matrix water outlet pipe,
    • the heater matrix water outlet pipe bolt.
  • Torque tighten the heater matrix water outlet pipe bolt (25 N.m).
  • Refit:
    • the wiring channel,
    • the wiring channel bolts.
  • Torque tighten the wiring channel bolts (10 N.m).
  • Refit:
    • the battery tray (see Battery tray: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery),
    • the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery).

REMOVAL

I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION

  • Remove:

    • the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery)

    • the battery tray (see Battery tray: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery).

Mechanical component controls

  • Remove:
    • the bolts (1) from the battery tray bracket,
    • the battery tray bracket (2) .
  • Disconnect the manual gearbox control cable from the gear control unit (see 37A, Mechanical component controls, Gear control unit: Removal - Refitting, page 37A-76) .

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART CONCERNED

Mechanical component controls

  • Unclip:
    • the cable (3) from the gear lever A by pressing on the brackets (5) ,
    • the cable (4) from the gear lever by pressing on the brackets (5) ,
    • the gear lever cable (3) from the upper bracket of control cable A (6) by pulling on the locking brackets (8) ,
    • the selector lever cable (4) from the upper bracket of control cable B (7) by pulling on the locking brackets (8) .

4X2 TRANSMISSION

Mechanical component controls

  • Unclip:
    • the manual gearbox control cable from the lower bracket (9) of the control cable,
    • the stop (10) from the manual gearbox control cable.

4X4 TRANSMISSION

Mechanical component controls

  • Unclip:
    • the manual gearbox control cable from the lower bracket (11) of the control cable,
    • the stop (12) from the manual gearbox control cable.

 

  • Remove the manual gearbox control cable.

REFITTING

I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART CONCERNED

  • Refit the manual gearbox control cable.
  • Clip:
    • the manual gearbox control cable on the lower bracket of the control cable,
    • the control cable stop on the manual gearbox,
    • the selector lever cable on the upper bracket of control cable A,
    • the selector lever cable on the upper bracket of control cable B,
    • the gear lever cable on gear lever A,
    • the selector lever cable on the selector lever.

II - FINAL OPERATION

  • Connect the manual gearbox control cable to the gear control unit (see 37A, Mechanical component controls, Gear control unit: Removal - Refitting, page 37A-76) .
  • Adjust the selector lever cable (see 37A, Mechanical component controls, Mechanical gear control cable: Adjustment, page 37A-84) .
  • Refit:
    • the battery tray bracket,
    • the battery tray bracket bolts.
  • Tighten to torque the battery tray bracket mounting bolts (28 N.m).
  • Refit:
    • the battery tray (see Battery tray: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery),
    • the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery).
