pre-filled with brake fluid. |
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
WARNING
Prepare for the flow of fluid, and protect the surrounding
components. |
- Fit the pedal press on the brake pedal to limit the
amount of brake fluid running out.
- Unlock the steering column.
- Remove the front wheel (see 35A, Wheels and tyres,
Wheel: Removal - Refitting, page 35A-1)
(35A, Wheels and tyres).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Remove:
- the brake hose (1) from the calliper,
- the guide pin bolt (2) while holding the nut (3) ,
- the brake pad,
- the brake calliper bolts (4) ,
- the front brake calliper.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
- Always replace the guide pin bolt.
- Check the condition of the gaiter and the calliper piston
(replace defective parts).
- Clean the backplate and the calliper.
- Push the piston back until it is at the end of its bore.
WARNING
In order to not damage the brake hose:
- do not tension the hose,
- do not twist the hose,
- check that there is no contact with the surrounding
components.

II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- Set the front wheels straight.
- Without using a tool, screw the brake hose onto the
calliper as tightly as possible.
- Refit:
- the front brake calliper,
- the brake calliper bolts,
- the pads starting from the inside,
- the new guide pin bolts.
- Torque tighten
- the guide pin bolts (29 N.m),
- the brake hose on the calliper (18 N.m),
- the brake calliper bolts (165 N.m).
III - FINAL OPERATION.
- Partially bleed the brake circuit if the compensation
reservoir was not completely emptied during the operation.
- If necessary, bleed the circuit completely (see 30A,
General information, Braking circuit: Bleed, page
30A-4) (30A, General information).
- Check the brake fluid level.
IMPORTANT
To avoid any accident, bring the pistons, brake
pads and brake discs into contact by depressing
the brake pad several times. |
- Refit the front wheel (see 35A, Wheels and tyres,
Wheel: Removal - Refitting, page 35A-1) (35A,
Wheels and tyres).
