REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift.
IMPORTANT To prevent the vehicle from falling, lash it to
the
vehicle lift using a strap. |
- Drain the engine oil .
- Remove:
- the battery ,
- the battery tray.
6-SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX
- Remove:
- the manual gearbox,
- the clutch,
- the flywheel.
6-SPEED AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
- Remove:
- the automatic transmission ,
- the drive plate.
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
Note:
The crankshaft seal on the gearbox side cannot
be separated from the crankshaft sealing cover. |
- Remove:
- the crankshaft sealing cover bolts (1) ,
- the crankshaft seal - crankshaft sealing cover assembly
(2) .
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
WARNING The joint faces must be clean, dry and free from
grease (avoid finger marks). |
Degrease:
- the joint face of the crankshaft sealing cover on the
cylinder block,
- the crankshaft seal mating face.
- Always replace the crankshaft seal - crankshaft
sealing cover assembly.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
Note:
Touching the lip of the seal is strictly forbidden.
Any contact with it will result in the lip being permanently
damaged, which will cause an oil leak. |
- Fit:
- the new seal protector (3) - seal - cover (4) assembly
on the crankshaft,
- the bolts (5) (M6 - 90 mm long) to guide the crankshaft
"seal - cover" assembly.
- Move the "seal - cover" assembly evenly by hand
until it makes contact with the cylinder block.
- Remove:
- the crankshaft seal protector (6) ,
- the crankshaft sealing cover bolts (7) .
- Refit the crankshaft sealing cover bolts.
- Pretighten in order and to torque the crankshaft
cover bolts (initial torque) (5 N.m) (1) and (5) .
- Torque tighten in order the crankshaft cover bolts
(12 N.m).
III - FINAL OPERATION
6-SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX
- Refit:
- the flywheel ,
- the clutch ,
- the manual gearbox .
6-SPEED AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
- Refit:
- the drive plate,
- the automatic transmission.
- Refit:
- the battery tray ,
- the battery .
- Top up the engine oil .

REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
IMPORTANT To prevent the vehicle from falling, lash it to
the

IMPORTANT Wear gloves during this operation. |
- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift ,
- Disconnect the battery.
ND5 or ND8
- Remove:
- the manual gearbox,
- the clutch disc and pressure plate ,
- the flywheel.
FK0 or FK8
- Remove:
- the automatic transmission,
- the drive plate.
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Remove the seal (1) from the crankshaft on the
gearbox side.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
- Always replace the crankshaft seal on the gearbox
side.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- Dust seal lip
- Seal lip
- (1) Engine exterior
- (2) Engine interior
- Apply fresh engine oil to the new crankshaft seal on
the gearbox side on the mating face and on the seal
lip (A) , (B) .
- Refit the crankshaft seal (1) on the gearbox side,
checking the direction of fitting is observed.
- Push the crankshaft seal on the gearbox side using
the tool (2) (Mot. 1868).
(4) Gap: 0 ~ 0.5 mm
- Check the gap between the crankshaft seal (5) on
the gearbox side and the cylinder surface (3) .
III - FINAL OPERATION
ND5 or ND8
- Refit:
- the flywheel
- the clutch disc and pressure plate
- the manual gearbox
FK0 or FK8
- Refit:
- the drive plate
- the automatic transmission
