REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift .
- Remove:
- the front right-hand wheel ,
- the front right-hand wheel arch liner ,
- the accessories belt ,
- the crankshaft accessories pulley .
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Remove the crankshaft seal (1) using the tool (2)
supplied in the spare parts kit for the new seal.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
WARNING The joint faces must be clean, dry and free from
grease (avoid finger marks). |
- Refit the new "seal (5) - protector (4) " assembly on
the crankshaft.
- Align the seal notches (3) with the notches on the timing cover (6) .
Note:
The (7) is supplied in the new seal parts kit. |
- Position the lugs of the (7) into the notches of the
seal (8) .
- Move the "tool - seal" assembly by hand until it
comes into contact with the timing cover (check that
the seal notches fit correctly into the timing cover
notches).
- Finger tighten the seal (8) clockwise using the (7) .
- Torque tighten the timing end crankshaft seal (47
N.m) using the (7) supplied in the new spare parts
kit.
- Remove the seal fitting protector (9) .
II - FINAL OPERATION
- Refit:
- the crankshaft accessories pulley,
- the accessories belt ,
- the front right-hand wheel arch liner ,
- the front right-hand wheel .

IMPORTANT To avoid all risk of damage to
the systems, apply the safety and cleanliness instructions and operation
recommendations before carrying out any repair. |
IMPORTANT Wear protective gloves during the operation. |
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift .
IMPORTANT To prevent the vehicle from falling, lash it to
the
vehicle lift using a strap. |
- Remove:
- the front right-hand wheel,
- the front right-hand splash guard ,
- the front right-hand wheel arch liner ,
- the accessories belt ,
- the crankshaft accessories pulley .
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Remove the crankshaft seal (1) on the timing end
using an appropriate tool (2) .
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
- Always replace:
- the crankshaft seal on the timing end,
- the crankshaft accessories pulley bolt.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- Dust seal lip
- Seal lip
- Engine exterior
- Engine interior
- Apply fresh engine oil to the joint face and to the seal
lips (A) and (B) .
- Refit the crankshaft seal on the timing end, observing
the direction of fitting.
- Refit the new crankshaft seal on the timing end using
the tool (Mot. 1867) (3) until the tool is resting on
the surface of the cylinder block.
III - FINAL OPERATION.
- Refit:
- the crankshaft accessories pulley,
- the accessories belt ,
- the front right-hand wheel arch liner ,
- the front right-hand splash guard ,
- the front right-hand wheel .
