REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
IMPORTANT
Never handle the pyrotechnic systems (pretensioners
or airbags) near to a source of heat or
naked flame - they may be triggered. |
IMPORTANT
To prevent the pyrotechnic components from
being permanently deactivated or triggered (airbags
or pretensioners), wait for at least 3 min
after disconnecting the battery. |
- Disconnect the battery (see 80A, Battery, Battery:
Removal - Refitting, page 80A-3) .
- Remove:
- the front sill panel trim (see Front door sill lining:
Removal - Refitting) (71A, Body internal trim),
- the rear inner sill trim (see Rear door sill lining:
Removal - Refitting) (71A, Body internal trim),
- the B-pillar trim (see B-pillar trim: Removal - Refitting)
(71A, Body internal trim).
- Move the front seat as far forward as possible.
- Partially pull up the edge of the floor carpet around
the B-pillar trim.
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Remove the front side seat belt upper bolt (2) .
- Detach the front side seat belt guide (3) .
Note:
To disconnect the airbag connector, insert a flat-blade
screwdriver wrapped in adhesive tape in
the notch (4) , lift the security device (5) and disconnect
the connector |
1 - Driver's side front side seat belt
- Disconnect:
- the connector (6) for the front lap belt pretensioner,
- the connector (7) for the front pyrotechnic inertia
reel.
- Remove:
- the bolt (8) from the front lap belt pretensioner,
- the front lap belt pretensioner,
- the front pyrotechnic inertia reel bolt (9) ,
- the front pyrotechnic seat belt inertia reel,
- the " front side seat belt - front pyrotechnic inertia
reel - front lap belt pretensioner " assembly.
2 - Passenger side front side seat belt
- Disconnect the connector (10) from the front pyrotechnic
inertia reel.
- Remove:
- the front pyrotechnic inertia reel bolt (11) ,
- the lower bolt (12) for the front side seat belt,
- the " front side seat belt - front pyrotechnic inertia
reel " assembly.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
1 - Driver's side front side seat belt
- Fit the " front side seat belt - front pyrotechnic inertia
reel - front lap belt pretensioner " assembly in place.
- Refit:
- the front lap belt pretensioner,
- the front lap belt pretensioner bolt,
- the front pyrotechnic seat belt inertia reel,
- the front pyrotechnic inertia reel bolt.
- Torque tighten:
- the front lap belt pretensioner bolt (49 N.m),
- the front pyrotechnic inertia reel bolt (49 N.m).
- Connect:
- the connector for the front lap belt pretensioner,
- the connector for the front pyrotechnic inertia reel.
- Connect the front pyrotechnic inertia reel connector.
- Refit:
- the front side seat belt guide,
- the upper bolt for the front side seatbelt.
- Torque tighten the front side seat belt (upper
bolt49 N.m).
- Refit the cover.
2 - Passenger side front side seat belt
- Fit the " front side seat belt - front pyrotechnic inertia
reel " assembly in place.
- Refit:
- the front pyrotechnic seat belt inertia reel,
- the front pyrotechnic inertia reel bolt,
- the lower bolt for the front side seat belt.
- Torque tighten:
- the front pyrotechnic inertia reel bolt49 (N.m),
- the front side seat belt lower bolt49 (N.m).
- Connect the front pyrotechnic inertia reel connector.
- Refit:
- the front side seat belt guide,
- the upper bolt for the front side seatbelt.
- Torque tighten the front side seat belt (upper
bolt49 N.m).
- Refit the cover.
II - FINAL OPERATION.
- Position the floor carpet.
- Refit:
- the B-pillar trim (see B-pillar trim: Removal - Refitting)
(71A, Body internal trim),
- the rear inner sill trim (see Rear door sill lining:
Removal - Refitting) (71A, Body internal trim),
- the front sill panel trim (see Front door sill lining:
Removal - Refitting) (71A, Body internal trim).
- Connect the battery (see 80A, Battery, Battery: Removal
- Refitting, page 80A-3) .
IMPORTANT
To eliminate the risk of any accident, do not
reuse pyrotechnic components.
It is essential to destroy pretensioners or airbags
before scrapping a vehicle or a part only (see
88C, Air bag and Pretensioners, Airbags and
pretensioners: Recycling - Destruction, page
