Mechanical component controls

REMOVAL

I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION

  • Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle: Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
IMPORTANT To prevent the vehicle from falling, lash it to the vehicle lift using a strap.
  • Remove:
    • the air inlet pipe (see Air filter unit: Removal - Refitting) (12A, Fuel mixture),
    • the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery)
    • the battery tray (see Battery: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery).
  • Disconnect the automatic gearbox control cable from the gear control unit (see 37A, Mechanical component controls, Gear control unit: Removal - Refitting, page 37A-76) .

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART CONCERNED

Mechanical component controls

  • Remove:
    • the nut (1) of the automatic gearbox control cable,
    • the sheath stop (2) from the automatic gearbox control cable.
  • Unclip:
    • the automatic gearbox control cable from the multifunction switch lever (3) .
    • the automatic gearbox control cable from the upper bracket (4) of the control cable.

Mechanical component controls

  • Unclip:
    • the automatic gearbox control cable from the lower bracket (5) of the control cable,
    • the cover (6) of the automatic gearbox control cable.
  • Remove the automatic gearbox control cable.

REFITTING

I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART CONCERNED

  • Refit the automatic gearbox control cable.
  • Clip:
    • the automatic gearbox control cable cover,
    • the automatic gearbox control cable on the lower bracket of the control cable,
    • the automatic gearbox control cable on the upper bracket of the control cable,
    • the automatic gearbox control cable on the multifunction switch lever.
  • Refit:
    • the sheath stop on the automatic gearbox control cable,
    • the nut on the automatic gearbox control cable.
  • Torque tighten the automatic gearbox control cable nut (14 N.m).

II - FINAL STEP

  • Connect the automatic gearbox control cable on the gear control unit (see 37A, Mechanical component controls, Gear control unit: Removal - Refitting, page 37A-76) .
  • Adjust the multifunction switch (see Multifunction switch: Adjustment) (23A, Automatic gearbox).
  • Remove:
    • the battery tray (see Battery: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery),
    • the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery)
    • the air inlet pipe (see Air filter unit: Removal - Refitting) (12A, Fuel mixture).

6-SPEED AUTOMATIC GEARBOX

REMOVAL

I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION

  • Position the vehicle on a two-post lift.
IMPORTANT To prevent the vehicle from falling, lash it to the vehicle lift using a strap.
  • Remove:
    • the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery)
    • the battery tray (see Battery tray: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery).
  • Disconnect the manual gearbox control cable from the gear control unit (see 37A, Mechanical component controls, Gear control unit: Removal - Refitting, page 37A-76) .

Mechanical component controls

  • Remove:
    • the bolts (1) from the wiring channel,
    • the wiring channel (2) .

Mechanical component controls

  • Remove:
    • the bolt (3) from the heater matrix water outlet pipe,
    • the heater matrix water outlet pipe (4) .

Mechanical component controls

  • Remove:
    • the bolt (5) from the heater matrix inlet pipe,
    • the heater matrix inlet pipe (6) .

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART CONCERNED

Mechanical component controls

  • Remove:
    • the nut (7) from the automatic gearbox control cable,
    • the sheath stop (8) from the automatic gearbox control cable.
  • Unclip:
    • the automatic gearbox control cable from the multifunction switch lever,
    • the automatic gearbox control cable from the upper bracket (9) of the control cable.

4X2 TRANSMISSION

Mechanical component controls

  • Unclip:
    • the automatic gearbox control cable from the lower bracket (11) of the control cable,
    • the stop (10) from the control cable of the automatic gearbox.

4X4 TRANSMISSION

Mechanical component controls

  • Unclip:
    • the automatic gearbox control cable from the lower bracket (12) of the control cable,
    • the stop (13) from the control cable of the automatic gearbox.

 

  • Remove the automatic gearbox control cable.

REFITTING

I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART CONCERNED:

  • Refit the automatic gearbox control cable.
  • Clip:
    • the automatic gearbox control cable on the lower bracket of the control cable,
    • the stop of the automatic gearbox control cable,
    • the automatic gearbox control cable on the upper bracket of the control cable,
    • the automatic gearbox control cable onto the multifunction switch lever.
  • Refit:
    • the control cable sheath stop on the automatic gearbox,
    • the automatic gearbox control cable nut.
  • Torque tighten the automatic gearbox control cable nut (14 N.m).

II - FINAL OPERATION.

  • Refit:
    • the heater matrix water inlet pipe,
    • the bolt of the heater matrix water inlet pipe.
  • Torque tighten the heater matrix water inlet pipe bolt (25 N.m).
  • Refit:
    • the heater matrix water outlet pipe,
    • the bolt of the heater matrix water outlet pipe.
  • Torque tighten the heater matrix water outlet pipe bolt (25 N.m).
  • Refit:
    • the wiring channel,
    • the wiring channel bolts.
  • Torque tighten the wiring channel bolts (10 N.m).
  • Connect the manual gearbox control cable to the gear control unit (see 37A, Mechanical component controls, Gear control unit: Removal - Refitting, page 37A-76) .
  • Adjust the multifunction switch (see Multifunction switch: Adjustment) (23A, Automatic gearbox).
  • Refit:
    • the battery tray (see Battery tray: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery),
    • the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting) (80A, Battery).
