REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
- Disconnect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting)
(80A, Battery).
- Remove:
- the windscreen wiper arms (see Windscreen wiper
arm: Removal - Refitting) (85A, Wiping -
Washing),
- the scuttle half-grille (see Scuttle panel grille: Removal
- Refitting) (56A, Exterior equipment),
- the windscreen wiper mechanism (see Windscreen
wiper mechanism: Removal - Refitting)
(85A, Wiping - Washing).
- the scoop under the scuttle panel grille (see Scoop
under the scuttle panel grille: Removal - Refitting)
(56A, Exterior equipment),
- the bulkhead insulation, partially (see Bulkhead
insulation: Removal - Refitting) (68A, Soundproofing).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Disconnect the supply hose (1) from the clutch master
cylinder.
- Remove the retaining clip (2) from the connecting
pipe.
- Disconnect the end of the clutch control pipe (3) .
- Remove:
- the lower cover from the dashboard on the driver's
side (see Dashboard: Removal - Refitting) (57A,
Interior equipment),
- the lower trim from the dashboard on the driver's
side (see Front footwell air distribution duct:
Removal - Refitting) (61A, Heating system).
- Separate the clutch master cylinder rod (4) from the
clutch pedal.
- Turn the clutch master cylinder a quarter of a turn
clockwise using the tool (Emb. 1797) (5) .
- Remove the clutch master cylinder.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- Position the clutch master cylinder.
- Refit the clutch master cylinder by turning it a quarter
of a turn anticlockwise using the tool (Emb. 1797).
Note:
The master cylinder has a foolproofing device, it
only fits in one position. |
- Refit:
- the clutch master cylinder rod on the clutch pedal,
- the lower trim on the dashboard on the driver's side
(see Front footwell air distribution duct: Removal
- Refitting) (61A, Heating system),
- the lower cover on the dashboard driver's side (see
Dashboard: Removal - Refitting) (57A, Interior
equipment).
- Connect the end of the clutch control pipe on the
clutch master cylinder.
- Refit the clip on the connecting pipe.
- Connect the supply hose on the clutch master cylinder.
II - FINAL OPERATION.
- Bleed the hydraulic clutch circuit (see 37A, Mechanical
component controls, Clutch circuit: Bleed,
page 37A-48) .
- Refit:
- the bulkhead insulation, partially (see Bulkhead
insulation: Removal - Refitting) (68A, Soundproofing),
- the scoop under the scuttle panel grille (see Scoop
under the scuttle panel grille: Removal - Refitting)
(56A, Exterior equipment),
- the windscreen wiper mechanism (see Windscreen
wiper mechanism: Removal - Refitting)
(85A, Wiping - Washing).
- the scuttle half-grille (see Scuttle panel grille: Removal
- Refitting) (56A, Exterior equipment),
- the windscreen wiper arms (see Windscreen wiper
arm: Removal - Refitting) (85A, Wiping -
Washing).
- Check that the hydraulic clutch system is operating
correctly.
- Refit the battery (see 80A, Battery, Battery: Removal
- Refitting).

- Remove:
- the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting)
(80A, Battery)
- the battery tray (see Battery tray: Removal - Refitting)
(80A, Battery),
- the air filter box (see Air filter unit: Removal - Refitting)
(12A, Fuel mixture).
- Drain the brake fluid reservoir with a syringe.
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART

- Disconnect the supply hose (1) from the clutch master
cylinder.
- Remove the clip (2) from the connecting pipe.
- Disconnect the end of the clutch control pipe (3) .
- Remove:
- the dashboard lower cover on the driver's side (see
Dashboard: Removal - Refitting) (57A, Interior
equipment),
- the lower trim from the dashboard on the driver's
side (see Front footwell air distribution duct:
Removal - Refitting) (61A, Heating system).
- Separate the clutch master cylinder rod (4) from the
clutch pedal.
- Remove the clutch master cylinder by turning it a
quarter of a turn clockwise using the (Emb. 1797) (5)
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- Position the clutch master cylinder.
- Refit the clutch master cylinder by turning it a quarter
of a turn anticlockwise using the tool (Emb. 1797)
(5) .
Note:
The master cylinder is fitted with a foolproofing
device; there is only one possible position. |
- Refit:
- the clutch master cylinder rod on the clutch pedal,
- the lower trim of the dashboard on the driver's side
(see Front footwell air distribution duct: Removal
- Refitting) (61A, Heating system).
- the dashboard lower cover on the driver's side (see
Dashboard: Removal - Refitting) (57A, Interior
equipment).
- Connect the end of the clutch control pipe on the
clutch master cylinder.
- Refit the clip on the connecting pipe.
- Connect the supply hose on the clutch master cylinder.
II - FINAL OPERATION.
- Bleed the hydraulic clutch circuit (see 37A, Mechanical
component controls, Clutch circuit: Bleed,
page 37A-48) .
- Refit:
- the air filter box (see Air filter unit: Removal - Refitting)
(12A, Fuel mixture),
- the battery tray (see Battery tray: Removal - Refitting)
(80A, Battery),
- the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting)
(80A, Battery).
- Check that the clutch system is operating correctly.
