FOOT BRAKE MANUAL CONTROL
ADJUSTMENT
I - ADJUSTMENT PREPARATION OPERATION
- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
- Remove the rear wheels (see 35A, Wheels and tyres,
Wheel: Removal - Refitting, page 35A-1) .
- Fit the rear brake disc using the wheel nuts.
- Check:
- that the cables slide freely,
- the travel of the parking brake cables and engage
them fully on the rear internal drum type disc.
- Remove the cup holder (1) .
- Raise the parking brake lever until the lock nut (2)
can be accessed.
Note:
Always replace the lock nut if it was removed. |
- Adjust the lock nut in order to loosen the cable completely.
- Release the parking brake lever.
- Remove the plug (3) from the rear brake disc adjustment
opening.
- Turn:
- the adjustment mechanism (4) in the direction of
(A) until it locks.
- the adjustment mechanism 7 notches from the
locked position,
- the rear brake disc to check the absence of traction.
- Refit the plug (3) on the rear brake disc adjustment
opening.
II - ADJUSTMENT OPERATION FOR THE PARKING
BRAKE CABLE
- Pull on the parking brake lever fully. Check the operation
by listening to the noise of the teeth (10 notches
or more),
- Adjust the parking brake lever travel by turning the
adjustment nut (2) ,
- Pull the parking brake lever to lock the brake disc,
- Check that the parking brake lever travel is within
the tolerance range of the number of notches recommended,
Note:
Number of notches recommended: 7 to 8. |
- Turn the rear brake disc with the parking brake lever
released,
- Check that there is no friction.
- Refit the rear wheels (see 35A, Wheels and tyres,
Wheel: Removal - Refitting, page 35A-1) .
- Check that the parking brake operates correctly. If
not, adjust the parking brake cable again.
