- be careful of fuel splashes when disconnecting the
union.

Keep the pipe unions away from contaminated
areas. |
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift.
- Disconnect the battery.
- Lift up:
- the rear bench seat base
- partially, the floor carpet under the rear bench seat
base
1 - Pump-sender-filter assembly
- Remove the inspection flap blanking cover (1) .
Note:
Make preparations for fuel outflow from the supply
and return pipes. |
M9R
- Disconnect:
- the fuel sender connector (2) ,
- the quick-release union (3) from the fuel supply
pipe,
- the quick-release union (4) from the fuel return
pipe.
2TR
- Disconnect:
- the fuel sender connector (5) ,
- the quick-release union (6) from the fuel supply
pipe.
- Fit blanking plugs on the unions.
2 - Sender
- Remove the inspection flap blanking cover (7) .
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
1 - Pump-sender-filter assembly
- Remove the nut (9) from the " pump-sender-filter "
assembly using the tool (Mot. 1397) (8) .
Note:
Take care to ensure that the float is not damaged
during the operation.
Make preparations for the fuel outflow, for example
using cloths. |
- Remove the " pump-sender-filter " assembly (10) .
- Disconnect:
- the fuel pipe (11) ,
- the connector (12) .
2 - Sender
- Remove the nut (14) from the sender using the tool
(Mot. 1397) (13) .
WARNING
To prevent the tank from being deformed, refit the
fuel sender unit nut to the tank well immediately. |
Note:
Take care to ensure that the float is not damaged
during the operation. Make preparations for the
fuel outflow, for example using cloths. |
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
- Always replace the " pump-sender-filter " assembly
O-ring and the sender O-ring.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
1 - Pump-sender-filter assembly
- Connect:
- the connector (12) ,
- the fuel pipe (11) .
- Refit:
- the new O-ring,
- the pump-sender-filter assembly,
- the " pump-sender-filter " assembly nut using the
tool (Mot. 1397).
2 - Sender
- Refit:
- the new O-ring,
- the sender,
- the nut on the sender using the tool (Mot. 1397).
III - FINAL OPERATION
1 - Pump-sender-filter assembly
- Remove the blanking plugs.

- Connect:
- the fuel return pipe quick-release union,
- the fuel supply pipe quick-release union,
- the fuel tank sender unit connector.

- Connect:
- the fuel supply pipe quick-release union,
- the fuel tank sender unit connector.
- Refit the blanking cover on the inspection flap.
- Refit:
- the floor carpet under the rear bench seat base
- the rear bench seat base
- Connect the battery.
2 - Sender
- Refit the blanking cover on the inspection flap.
- Refit:
- the floor carpet under the rear bench seat base
- the rear bench seat base
- Connect the battery.
