IMPORTANT
During this operation, be sure to:
- refrain from smoking or bringing red hot objects
close to the working area,
- be careful of fuel splashes when disconnecting the
union.

WARNING
To avoid any corrosion or damage, protect the
areas on which fuel is likely to run. |
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Remove:
- the engine cover,
- the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting)
(80A, Battery).
- Disconnect:
- the vacuum pipe at (1) from the non-return valve,
- the vacuum pipe (2) from the non-return valve,
- the vacuum pipe (3) from the EGR cooler bypass
solenoid valve.
- Disconnect:
- the quick-release union (4) from the high pressure
pump diesel supply pipe,
- the quick-release union (5) from the diesel return
pipe on the high pressure pump.
- Put blanking plugs in the openings.
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Remove:
- the vacuum pump bolts (6) ,
- the vacuum pump.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
- Be sure to replace the vacuum pump seal.
WARNING
Do not remove the blanking plugs from each
component until the last moment.
Also, do not remove the components from their
packaging until they are to be fitted to the vehicle. |
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- Refit:
- the vacuum pump new seal,
- the vacuum pump,
- the vacuum pump bolts.
- Torque tighten in order the vacuum pump bolts (15
N.m).
III - FINAL OPERATION.
- Remove the blanking plugs from the openings.
- Connect:
- the diesel return pipe quick release union to the
high pressure pump,
- the diesel supply pipe quick-release union to the
high pressure pump,
- the vacuum pipe on the EGR cooler by-pass solenoid
valve,
- the vacuum pipe on the non-return valve,
- the non-return valve vacuum pipe on the brake servo.
- Refit:
- the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting)
(80A, Battery)
- the engine cover.
- Prime the diesel circuit using the manual priming
pump (see Manual priming pump: Removal - Refitting)
