DRAINING
- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
| IMPORTANT
To prevent the vehicle from falling, lash it to the
vehicle lift using a strap. |
- Remove:
- the engine undertray,
- the front right-hand wheel (see Wheel: Removal -
Refitting) (35A, Wheels and tyres).
- Remove the bolt (1) from the bracket of the electric
coolant pump.
- Unclip the wiring clips (2) .
- Move aside the electric coolant pump (3) .
- Remove:
- the drain plug (4) ,
- the drain plug seal.
- Drain the oil from the transfer box.
FILLING
- Always replace the drain plug seal.
- Refit:
- the new drain plug seal,
- the drain plug.
- Torque tighten the drain plug (35 N.m).
- Refit:
- the electric water pump,
- the bolt of the electric coolant pump bracket.
- Torque tighten the electric coolant pump bracket
bolt (85 N.m).
- Clip on the wiring clips.
- Remove:
- the filler cap (5) ,
- the filler cap seal.
- Fill the transfer box with oil to the level of the opening.
- Refit:
- the new filler cap seal,
- the filler cap.
- Torque tighten the filler cap (35 N.m).
- Refit:
- the front right-hand wheel (see Wheel: Removal -
Refitting) (35A, Wheels and tyres),
- the engine undertray.

- the engine undertray,
- the connector pipe (see Intermediate pipe: Removal
- Refitting) (19B, Exhaust).
- Remove:
- the drain plug (1) ,
- the drain plug seal.
- Drain the oil from the transfer box.
FILLING
- Always replace the drain plug seal.
- Refit:
- the new drain plug seal,
- the drain plug.
- Torque tighten the drain plug (35 N.m).
- Remove:
- the filler cap (2) ,
- the filler cap seal.
- Fill the transfer box with oil to the level of the opening.
- Refit:
- the new filler cap seal,
- the filler cap.
- Torque tighten the filler cap (35 N.m).
- Refit:
- the connector pipe (see Intermediate pipe: Removal
- Refitting) (19B, Exhaust),
- the engine undertray.
