Renault Koleos Service Repair Manual: Transfer box oil: Draining - Filling

M9R, and 4X4 TRANSMISSION

DRAINING

• Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle: Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).

• Remove:
  • the engine undertray,
  • the front right-hand wheel (see Wheel: Removal - Refitting) (35A, Wheels and tyres).

• Remove the bolt (1) from the bracket of the electric coolant pump.
• Unclip the wiring clips (2) .
• Move aside the electric coolant pump (3) .
• Remove:
  • the drain plug (4) ,
  • the drain plug seal.
• Drain the oil from the transfer box.

FILLING

• Always replace the drain plug seal.
• Refit:
  • the new drain plug seal,
  • the drain plug.
• Torque tighten the drain plug (35 N.m).
• Refit:
  • the electric water pump,
  • the bolt of the electric coolant pump bracket.
• Torque tighten the electric coolant pump bracket bolt (85 N.m).
• Clip on the wiring clips.

• Remove:
  • the filler cap (5) ,
  • the filler cap seal.

• Fill the transfer box with oil to the level of the opening.
• Refit:
  • the new filler cap seal,
  • the filler cap.
• Torque tighten the filler cap (35 N.m).
• Refit:
  • the front right-hand wheel (see Wheel: Removal - Refitting) (35A, Wheels and tyres),
  • the engine undertray.

2TR, and 4X4 TRANSMISSION

DRAINING

• Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle: Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).

• Remove:
  • the engine undertray,
  • the connector pipe (see Intermediate pipe: Removal - Refitting) (19B, Exhaust).

• Remove:
  • the drain plug (1) ,
  • the drain plug seal.
• Drain the oil from the transfer box.

FILLING

• Always replace the drain plug seal.
• Refit:
  • the new drain plug seal,
  • the drain plug.
• Torque tighten the drain plug (35 N.m).

• Remove:
  • the filler cap (2) ,
  • the filler cap seal.

• Fill the transfer box with oil to the level of the opening.
• Refit:
  • the new filler cap seal,
  • the filler cap.
• Torque tighten the filler cap (35 N.m).
• Refit:
  • the connector pipe (see Intermediate pipe: Removal - Refitting) (19B, Exhaust),
  • the engine undertray.
